• ABOUT COUNSELLING

Counselling offers the opportunity to discuss your concerns in a safe, confidential setting, with a trained professional who will ask questions, make observations and help you explore your situation without judgement or shame. For many people, it is a relief to talk openly with someone who is not a family member or friend and it can be a transformational experience.

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place once a week at a regular time, however you may find it useful to attend a few sessions or even just one. You are welcome to contact me to discuss your situation without obligation and to arrange an initial session.

  • ABOUT ME

I offer a respectful and confidential space in which to explore your life and talk about your current concerns. I will not give advice or judge you, but listen carefully and attempt, through my questions and reflections, to help you make sense of your situation and identify opportunities for change.

I obtained my Masters Degree and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling at The Minster Centre, one of the oldest and most respected centres of training in the UK. As an integrative counsellor, I have been trained in a range of theories and approaches which I incorporate into my work. In practical terms, this means that I see every client as an individual and seek to find a way of working that feels right for each one. The approaches that influence my work include psychodynamic, existential, relational, Jungian and humanistic.

I have worked with clients of different ages and backgrounds, including many whose first language is not English. These are some of the issues that I have had experience of dealing with: relationship problems, anxiety, life transitions, divorce, bereavement, depression, loneliness, identity issues, life crisis, desire to understand dreams. I also have extensive experience of working as a university counsellor and am familiar with the issues that can arise when young people leave home, and how it affects them and their families.

I am a member of the UKCP and the BACP and abide by their guidelines with regard to ethics and confidentiality. In accordance with these guidelines, my work is regularly supervised by another exerienced practitioner, I am fully insured and I am committed to ongoing professional development.
